Dr. Caroline Kaufman is originally from Alaska. She has been a practicing Optometrist since 1994 and has owned Factoria Eye Clinic since 2005. She is residency-trained in Cornea and Specialty Contact Lenses. Dr. Kaufman is a wonderful doctor who takes the time to give thorough, accurate exams. She has a passion for fitting Orthokeratology, as well as Rigid Gas Permeable, Scleral, and hybrid lenses for specific eye diseases or hard-to-fit contact lens prescriptions. Her perfectionist tendencies and love of what she does sets her apart in the contact lens world. Dr. Kaufman is on the board of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control. Dr. Kaufman’s younger son wears orthokeratology lenses for myopia control. She, herself, wears a scleral lens. So, she can speak from personal experience about living with these types of lenses. When she is not at the office, she is spending time with her family. She also enjoys hiking, practicing yoga, or hanging out at the lake.
Dr. Carol Chou grew up in Chatham, Illinois and completed her bachelor's degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She continued her education at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, graduating with her Doctor of Optometry.
Dr. Chou completed a residency in Cornea and Contact Lens at Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She is certified to fit a variety of contact lenses, ranging from soft to rigid gas permeable to multifocal designs. Dr. Chou was also trained in minor surgical and anterior segment laser procedures during her time in Oklahoma.
She enjoys serving patients of all ages and backgrounds. Her clinical training includes an emphasis on cornea disease and specialty contact lenses including keratoconus, post-surgical corneal ectasia and cataract pre- and post-op management. Dr. Chou especially enjoys fitting scleral lenses, myopia control and managing dry eye disease. She is also available to do examinations in Mandarin upon request.
Dr. Chou is an active member of American Optometric Association (AOA), American Academy of Optometry (AAO), Optometric Physicians of Washington (OPW), Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians (OAOP). She is also very passionate about community outreach programs. She has participated in multiple clinics including Remote Area Medical (RAM), World Relief Memphis Eye Clinic, and Student Volunteers Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH) to help provide free eye care and glasses to underserved populations.
Dr. Chou relocated to the Pacific Northwest from Oklahoma and sees patients at our Factoria office. In her free time, Dr. Chou enjoys hiking, lounging with her dog Charlie and spending time with friends & family.
Leana is a California native but has been in the area since 2011. She has been an Optician since 2008 and with our office since 2015. She has an immense amount of knowledge and great style advice to assure you choose the best eyewear for your face shape and visual needs. Leana also takes care of all of our office’s insurance billing so when she’s not helping with eyewear, she is busy behind the scenes! Leana is our personal textbook and has taught Michelle and Shelby most of what they know. Her patience and years of experience has helped assure we give our patients the best and most effective care. When she is not at work she is spending time with her husband, ADORABLE daughter, and dog Macie.
Michelle is originally from Southern California but has been living in the area since 2001. She has worked at our office since 2016. Michelle has two kids out of the house, so when she is not in the office she can be found with friends or family trying out new restaurants, or traveling with her husband. You will find her at the front desk, keeping our office organized and running smoothly. Without her attention to detail, we would fall apart and she always makes sure insurances are verified to the best of her ability, and goes above and beyond for our patients with every aspect of her job. She is the glue that holds our office together!
